With the Iowa caucuses behind them, the presidential candidates headed to New Hampshire late this week, where they're facing a vastly different electorate and set of issues. Here with a look at what's at stake in Tuesday's first-in-the-nation primary is New Hampshire senator John Sununu. Sen. Sununu, welcome, great to have you here. Sununu: It's great to be here, Paul. Gigot: I know you haven't endorsed any candidate, but you do know your state. And in Iowa, the Republican voters in the caucuses said immigration was the No. 1 issue for them. Is immigration as big an issue up in New Hampshire? Sununu: Yeah, well, it's a big issue. The economy is clearly pressing on people's minds. And given the recent events overseas in Pakistan and elsewhere, foreign policy and foreign-policy experience matters.
Selebi to be charged within the week
A meeting of the NPA's top brass today will confirm the date, which will then be communicated to Selebi's legal team. The extent of the case against the commissioner was revealed in court documents on Friday during his failed last-ditch attempt to try and prevent being prosecuted. It's alleged Selebi's long-time friend, Glenn Agliotti, gave him money in exchange for favours. Selebi took extended leave from his job as head of police in South Africa and has also stepped down as president of Interpol this weekend. We won't be seeing handcuffs slapped on the commissioners wrists, instead he will present himself before a magistrate sometime this week to be officially charged. Todays NPA meeting will likely deal with tactical issues about how to manage the fallout around the prosecution.
Clementine Ford reveals her two no guilt, no shame abortions
I made my position on the matter fairly clear. I always have been and always will be pro-choice when it comes to abortion. Unsurprisingly, I received a few embittered emails over it. One reader asked if I'd like to come along and witness an abortion procedure. Apparently she/he can arrange this for me. (Funny, the last time I checked the hospital wasn't exactly a drive-in.) This part's my favourite though: "I have twins born at 24 weeks gestation and the thought I could have aborted my children is so abhorrent I feel ill every time I hear an ignorant feminazi like you stating people should have the legal right to murder their children. You are a total disgrace to the human race!" Me, a feminazi and a total disgrace to the human race? Must be Wednesday . . .
