Threat to free banking

On Monday 14 January, the curtain lifts on the long-awaited court battle between the high street banks and consumer champions at the Office of Fair Trading over unauthorised overdraft charges. A victory for the OFT could force banks to cut fees to those customers who pay charges, but might also herald the end of free banking for the millions who pay nothing for their current account services.

Celebrities Donate to Many Candidates

The show's star and creator, Larry David, donated to both Obama and Edwards, but is supporting Obama, said Laura Streicher, David's assistant and an associate producer on the show. Cast members Cheryl Hines, Jeff Garlin and Paul Dooley all contributed to Obama.

Another actress supporting Clinton is Fran Drescher, former star of the TV show "The Nanny," who contributed $2,300 to the campaign. In an e-mail, Drescher told the AP that she considers Clinton "the best man for the job!"

"I also think that having Bill Clinton is a plus," she said. "He is one of the greatest statesmen of our time, and I believe that he _ as first man _ will be a most effective diplomat. Now let's get a little estrogen in the White House _ couldn't hurt!"

Hollywood had a long romance with Bill Clinton when he was in the White House, but Obama has also benefited from the star treatment, most noticeably from a high-profile endorsement from Oprah Winfrey, who has donated $2,300 to his campaign.

New faces delight Colorado caucus organizers

Coloradans attending caucuses will take a "preference poll," indicating which presidential candidates they support.

The idea of a record turnout is hard to fathom for Wes Skiles, a precinct leader in Arapahoe County for several years.

"In 2000 we had three people attend - and I was one of them," he said.

Democrat Carolyn Boller, a state Democratic Party office and a precinct leader in Aurora for years, knows the feeling.

"People are excited this year, but the process of trying to explain to them how this works is another matter. It can be confusing," she said.

Colorado traditionally participated in the presidential selection process in March and often the nominees were already known by then.

Not this time, which is why campaigns are working so feverishly to make sure their candidate wins on Feb.

Viewer Feedback On Mass Transit Bailout

(CBS) We wanted to know your thoughts on the state's plan to bail out mass transit in the Chicago area and Gov. Rod Blagojevich's proposal to allow seniors across the state to ride public buses and trains for free. Here's what you said: Thanks, but no thanks Gov. As a retired senior who rides CTA to Dr. appts etc. I think that we already get a good deal with the reduced senior fare. I don't want to be treated disrespecful by others, because we are riding for free, and it will happen.

--Alberta B.No wonder the CTA is in trouble, the news recently reported that a CTA bus driver could retire after 3 yrs. employment and receive medical coverage for the remainder of their life! This is a great, and unnecessary, expense to the taxpayers! Why are collar counties paying more of a tax increase than those people in Chicago and Cook county who are the ones using the services of the CTA? I haven't been in Chicago or used the Cook county transit system for several years, since I live outside of Cook county, I don't know why I'm paying for this service, you may as well tax the rest of the counties in Illinois, it makes just as much sense.
