She set out as she had done every Sunday afternoon for years. She locked her door, turned to the weather, and held the hand rail as she stepped carefully down from the porch. Once on the ground she adjusted her hat on her gray head. As this was a winter day in the Christmas season, a cold day, she also adjusted her coat. Had it been raining, she would have pulled a large lawn and leaf bag, as if it were a poncho, over her head and upper body. Most times she shouldered her hand bag. This day she also shouldered a bulging plastic shopping bag. She walked along the dirt road that would lead her to the paved road that would lead her to the highway. Her only company was her shadow, small and indistinct at her feet. She walked without the deliberate care of someone unfamiliar with the terrain, but neither was her gait quick.

China tops India again

It's low quality and there's hardly any variety, where's the innovation? Do Indian films win any International awards? If there are, it's must be very measly.

Some Indians like Vineet seems to like to live on wishful thinking. They like to boast about the supposed advantages of India before India has reached there. Achieve it before you talk. Otherwise it's all just talk and no work and you are only good for that.

From the Editor :

I am sad to say goodbye to Shaun Pollock, I feel this retirement was a little too soon as his bowling is far more impressive than Andre Nel and obviously his batting is in another league to Nella as well. At least he retires with a healthy average in both the bowling and batting departments. Funny that a team like Australia have not produced a "Pollock" for many years. On the subject of MOTM, I feel Dale Steyn deserved it. To get 6 wickets on that flat Durban wicket was a World class performance and to give it to Ashwell Prince was an injustice to the hard work put in even by Graeme Smith with his hundred. I fear this was another political choice to boost the image of QUOTA players. Oh well as long as the guys who are picked on colour keep on scoring 100's Im ok with them in the team. I just dont understand what more Prince did in that Durban test to deserve the award?

Mike Henry says ...Big plans ahead for Vernamfield

Now with Vernanfield being larger than Manhattan in New York and the main airstrip there being extremely long and capable of being lengthened even further, this offers us the possibility of feasibly developing the kind of overall facility to accommodate pretty much any size and type of aircraft in the world, not only for cargo or travel purposes, but for servicing, which we could develop as a critical regional service industry.

The servicing of airplanes involves not only engine and other mechanical operations, but many other facets like upholstering and other aspects of craftsmanship, for which Jamaicans are noted internationally. So while we have been talking about all of this over the years, Europe has been busy delivering on these promises at pretty high costs. It's now time for us to get in on the action and that's another big focal point of the development plans.

NetSuite Closes IPO at $26 per Share

On-demand enterprise resource planning vendor NetSuite said Dec. 26 that it has closed its initial public offering. The much-vaunted IPO, launched Dec. 10, has raised $185.4 million in the sale of 6.2 million shares at $26 each—a take that far exceeds the companys initial expectations.

NetSuite officials said in a Dec. 6 statement that they expected shares to price out at between $13 and $16 each during the IPO to raise a total of about $80.9 million. The company is majority-owned by Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and his family, which owned about 74 percent of NetSuite prior to the IPO, a percentage that is expected to drop down to about 66 percent post-IPO.

NetSuite officials said the company will use the proceeds from the offering to repay the $8 million balance on a secured line of credit with the companys controlling shareholder, Tako Ventures, a company controlled by Ellison.
