Observations from a nearly perfect NFL weekend

He's too good, having too much fun, and, when you read SI this week, you'll find out how much his game means to his 8-year-old daughter, Breleigh.

• Tom Brady was a ref's buried whistle and a stunning drop by Mr. Hands Wes Welker from being 28-for-28 the other night. Are we watching the best quarterback of all time in mid-career? Are we watching, maybe three of the best five or six of all time?

• Peyton Manning threw for 402 yards and Lost. He and Tom Brady started a combined opened 30-of-30. Add what Favre did and is doing. We're in a real golden age at the top of the quarterback list.

Hydrogen study fuels possibilities

One of the latest advances comes from the lab of Bruce Logan, who is also director of the Penn State center.

An energetic, bearded fellow who drives a Toyota Prius hybrid but who usually walks more than a mile from home to school, Logan studies how to "make" hydrogen.

It's the most plentiful element in the universe, but it is generally bonded to other elements such as carbon and (in the case of water) oxygen.

So these molecules must be broken apart - a process that requires a fair amount of energy, especially in the case of splitting water. Not so good when the end goal is to make energy.

For now, hydrogen is most often produced by using steam to "reform" natural gas - which consists mainly of methane, a hydrocarbon. But that's a fossil fuel, and the process releases heat-trapping greenhouse gases that are blamed for global warming.

From the Editor :

I am sad to say goodbye to Shaun Pollock, I feel this retirement was a little too soon as his bowling is far more impressive than Andre Nel and obviously his batting is in another league to Nella as well. At least he retires with a healthy average in both the bowling and batting departments. Funny that a team like Australia have not produced a "Pollock" for many years. On the subject of MOTM, I feel Dale Steyn deserved it. To get 6 wickets on that flat Durban wicket was a World class performance and to give it to Ashwell Prince was an injustice to the hard work put in even by Graeme Smith with his hundred. I fear this was another political choice to boost the image of QUOTA players. Oh well as long as the guys who are picked on colour keep on scoring 100's Im ok with them in the team. I just dont understand what more Prince did in that Durban test to deserve the award?

Celebrities Donate to Many Candidates

The show's star and creator, Larry David, donated to both Obama and Edwards, but is supporting Obama, said Laura Streicher, David's assistant and an associate producer on the show. Cast members Cheryl Hines, Jeff Garlin and Paul Dooley all contributed to Obama.

Another actress supporting Clinton is Fran Drescher, former star of the TV show "The Nanny," who contributed $2,300 to the campaign. In an e-mail, Drescher told the AP that she considers Clinton "the best man for the job!"

"I also think that having Bill Clinton is a plus," she said. "He is one of the greatest statesmen of our time, and I believe that he _ as first man _ will be a most effective diplomat. Now let's get a little estrogen in the White House _ couldn't hurt!"

Hollywood had a long romance with Bill Clinton when he was in the White House, but Obama has also benefited from the star treatment, most noticeably from a high-profile endorsement from Oprah Winfrey, who has donated $2,300 to his campaign.

Endorsing Ron Paul, and Why Progressive Dems Should Support Ron Paul

Ron Paul is my first choice for a Republican candidate. There. I've said it. Of all the Republicans, he's the one I think is the best. His positions on the constitution, on the war, on globalism on nation building and interventionism are ones I can get behind. He's not perfect, but he's far, far ahead of any other Republican in the race.

This publisher of one of the top five progressive media sites (based on traffic stats from alexa.com) is endorsing Ron Paul for Republican presidential candidate. .
