| New Charges For Man Who Led Police On Wild Chase
Finally, the suspect exited the Dolphin Expressway and sped up Perimeter Road, next to Miami International Airport. He turned again at 25th Street where his road ran out in a Customs warehouse area. After the driver skidded over a median between two police over a median and having nowhere else to go, the suspect slammed into a traffic barrier. Soto then took off of foot and tried to outrun police but they caught up to him as he jumped spread eagle into some bushes. He surrendered after at least six officers jumped on top of him. Video of the capture shows several officers punching and kicking Soto as he was pinned to the ground. Two of the officers involved in the take down were suspended with pay. Police realized Soto was not the person they were looking for. The suspects wanted in the lunch truck robbery were described as three males and a female who was driving the getaway car.
Congress sets new standards
A few days later he arrived at my doorstep just before evening prep. Sir, can we run away now? Sure, I said. So hand in hand, we ran away from school. We took the bridle path and reached Dharampur in the gathering darkness. We stood at the roadside, waiting to flag down a bus. Running away is always better on a full stomach, I suggested Lets have something to eat. So we sat down at Gyanis and had a hearty tuck-in. After the meal he said: It is rather cold, Sir. Could we run away tomorrow? Over the next few weeks he came to me when he was homesick but, happily, the running away was limited to going down to Charlies and eating samosas and gulab jamuns. Then this too ceased and I knew he had settled down. He returned after the winter vacation with a fairisle pullover for me brown with a white deer on it.
New credit scores cut users' benefits
Credit bureaus are expected to adopt a new version of the widely used FICO credit score this year that will no longer benefit so-called "authorized users" on another person's credit card account. It's common for parents to add a child as an authorized user on their credit card to boost the child's credit score. That benefit will no longer exist under a new scoring model by Fair Isaac Corp., the company that developed the FICO score. You can still be an authorized user, but Fair Isaac will no longer factor authorized-user accounts into its credit-scoring formulas. The move is in response to the controversial practice of "piggybacking" in which some Web sites allow consumers with poor credit scores to hitch onto someone else's good credit record. These companies say they can boost your credit score by having you added as an authorized user on the credit cards of strangers with stellar credit, for a fee.
Get handle on spending for holidays past, future
So you've blown your budget buying Christmas gifts for family, friends and even the neighbor's dog. That's little surprise. It's the American way to spend and spend. The problem is that the trauma of overspending during the holidays can last long after the last of the eggnog has been chugged and the wrapping paper stowed away. That's why you should repair the damage as quickly as possible. .
Selebi to be charged within the week
A meeting of the NPA's top brass today will confirm the date, which will then be communicated to Selebi's legal team. The extent of the case against the commissioner was revealed in court documents on Friday during his failed last-ditch attempt to try and prevent being prosecuted. It's alleged Selebi's long-time friend, Glenn Agliotti, gave him money in exchange for favours. Selebi took extended leave from his job as head of police in South Africa and has also stepped down as president of Interpol this weekend. We won't be seeing handcuffs slapped on the commissioners wrists, instead he will present himself before a magistrate sometime this week to be officially charged. Todays NPA meeting will likely deal with tactical issues about how to manage the fallout around the prosecution.
